Football is not just a game.

            Football that came from England has become a most popular sport in the universe now. The battle of eleven men against eleven men is what people called football. They play to score the ball and bring their teams to the victory. There must be one team wins, and others lose. Unless both of the teams are equally strong, the match is draw.

            People in the past usually play football just for fun. As we know, football is a simple game which can be played by everyone, male, female, old people, and children. They play in the evening weekend with the smiles on their faces. According to the development over time, football has turned to something different.

            In the modern era, football has become a job where people can earn money from it. The job is not only from playing as a player or the coach, but the fan of football club or the owner of the club. They can also earn money even they can not playing football as well. They can invest their money to the club, to the player, and to the match.

Football sacrifices your future

            When you make a decision which is football as your priority, you have to be consistent on your choice. Your decision is certainly become your future. For example when you have to choose to step forward by football or continue your education. It is just like how you bet your future. You have to be a good player to be successful on your bet. A good footballer is a person who focuses on his football lesson, skill of their football. Their skill must be trained intensively when you are in the young age, before you become the professional player. Young age will just happen one time in your life.

            Failure is always present no matter where, especially in deciding the choice, your future. If you choose the football as your future, and you think that you will definitely get success in the end, you are totally wrong. There is always the risk behind it all. Become the player, how about if your skills are not enough to compete with another footballer, so you get fired and feel unused? How about injury? It will take a long times, you just lay in the bed for a long time to recover your injury. Is it wasting your expensive time? Being the Investor of football club, gambling for the game or something else, they have the risks either. You bet your money to the good luck with the fifty-fifty chance to win or lose. Your time and your money will bring the happiness or disappointment.

Here he is the young footballer, one of my friends. He became the football player since he was young. He decided to play football than continuing his school. At the first, he was Senior high school football player. And then he took the junior football professional selection team, in the one of the big team in Indonesia, Persib Bandung. Finally he passed the test and he in the junior team now. He sacrifices his future for playing football. Of course, started from hobby then became the job.

When I asked him that he regret or not, he answered, “I do not know, I just enjoy my life. I know I am different than another teenagers, the continuing their education. They waste money, I get money. But what do you think why do they take a lesson in the school for? They chase they dreams. They want to be a doctor, a policeman, an architect, well that is fine. And you know what, I also have a dream. I want to be a professional footballer, just like Eka Ramdhani.”

At the last I asked him that he want to continue his school or not, he said ’’Yes I want, I will. But I don not know when. This is my world. But, really, I want. You know why? Because here is no girl” Well, I don not know that he is lying about ‘no girl’. Because I think a football player is does not need to chase a girl. Yes, the girl will come for them. The conclusion is, when you are dealing with your big step for your future, you should have a commitment on it, whatever your choice. As long as you can be serious on it, there is a way.

Humane or not? Because money brings the change

We can see that football impact to the real world where the people is not play a ball anymore. For example in the world of celebrity, football actor which is the player, the coach, and the owner of the club have become a world celebrity now. All people in the world know them. Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Jose Mourinho, and Silvio Berlusconi are some of the most important figure of football. No body who does not know them. Ronaldo and Messi is the best player in the world. Jose Mourinho is the charismatic football club, and Silvio Berlusconi is the owner of one of the biggest football club in the world, AC. Milan, he also Italian Prime Minister. Compare them with Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga, and Brad Pitt. They have no difference on their popularity, especially for the football fans.

Football, especially European football can not be separated from material factor, money. Ticket of the match, the merchandise, bet the match and many more. They need money to show their joy of the football. People invest their money on football. It does not matter they like football as well, or they are just looking for the profit in football. Money became the most important thing in football.

As the most fanatic of the football club, the real fan should watch every game where their favorite team plays. In Europe, they need to pay ticket of football match which are very expensive. They spent their money for watching their favorite team play. England is where the ticket is very expensive than another country in Europe or America. We can see it in Indonesia. The ticket is very cheap if we compare the price with another country in Europe. It is because European football has an attractive game to watch, their quality of football game offers something different from Indonesian football, popular player, and the big stadium with a high class quality is become the reason why they are willing to sacrifice their money just to watch their favorite team play.

When the people want to be the real fan of the club, they should have the official merchandise of the club such as the official player shirt, the scarf of the club, and many more. It can be purchased by ordering in the official store or the cooperated outlet. Commonly, the official accessories have the high prices, it is because the sale proceed will be used by the club to increase their financial. It different from the pirates accessories are sold at the low prices, it has no affair with the club.

There is something like ‘Human trafficking’ in football world. This is not in the term that real meaning of the words. This is just like buying or selling the contract of the player, or the coach who has their own quality. The club spends the million dollars just to get one player. Cristiano Ronaldo is the man who labeled as the most expensive player on the earth. How can you imagine that one person can be priced one hundred dollars to play for Real Madrid, it is more than enough to buy the big Island.

The advantages and the disadvantages of the football are not only for the player or the fans. People around the football will get the impact of it. The owner of the football, some of them but not all just want to get the big profit. They do not care about everything, about football itself. All they do is just invests a billion dollars, and then the manager of the club buy a new player, finally the owner get the result. The profit or the opposite.

            In last two years, the goal line technology has become the most discussed topic by the association officers. The story started from the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa last year. Frank Lampard made a controversial goal. The ball had passed the goal line. It meant that must be a goal made there. But the referee said no, he said no goal because the linesman told the referee that the ball did not pass the goal line. But the camera which is record the chance showed that the ball had already passed the goal line. It become a hot topic because the referee’s decision had been impaired England as the team where Lampard played for.

Many of important figures of football suggested about using the bird eye technology, but Sepp Blatter strongly opposed the suggestion. Sepp Blatter, the president of Federation of International Football Association, said “Football is a human game, and will always be”. It means that he thinks football is the human game, all is totally humane, no machinery, and no robotic on it. He finally found the way out of the problem. He adds more referee assistant behind the goal, to make sure that the ball is in or out of the goal. And football still human game as well.

If you do not like about what has been changed to the football for recent time, you do not have to follow it. Football is simple as you know. We play, we enjoy, and we win. When you think about football turns to craziness, maybe you are right. People waste their money to play football, or even to watch their favorite team playing.
